The TaTa Trot

Project Description

In October 2009, a group of women from Coal City, Diamond and Carbon Hill area went to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Tinley Park. It was a beautiful day and as they were walking in the event, they were discussing why couldn’t they get a Making Strides walk in their own community. The next day, one of the women, Carla Youngquist, made a phone call to the American Cancer Society and talked with the Strides staff partner, Carrie Robinette. Youngquist was told that her community was not big enough for the Strides walk but that they could do a walk of their own. With Robinette’s guidance, they started the Ta Ta Trot. The first walk/fun-run was on 10/10/2010.
